I just attended the press day of CES 2021 online. I’ve been attending CES every year for the last 13 years. It’s my honor to meet some of you virtually. CES is the conference where many consumer electronic brands show case their most advanced technologies and the conference that set the trends for the near future.

Since four years ago, Micro LED and mini LED had been making big splash at every year’s CES. Hundreds of thousands attendees at CES were “wowed” by the beautiful, over 100”, or over 200” micro and mini LED digital signage and TVs. I have surveys and interviews with many micro LED and mini LED suppliers and display suppliers at the exhibition. This year micro LED and mini LED continue to be the bright spot and ready for exponential growth.
Samsung announced to bring direct-view micro LED TV to the market in this March.
LG announced to bring mini LED backlight with local dimming QNED TV to the market this year.
As we know, several other TV manufacturers are bringing or will bring mini LED backlight TV to the market in 2021 as well.
In the recently published “Micro and Mini LED Technologies, Supply Chain and Market Forecast 2020-2030 Report, Third Edition,” Touch Display Research Inc., a market research and consulting firm, analyzed all the methods to fabricate micro and mini LED displays along with their supply chains. More than 250 companies and research institutes working on micro LED and mini LED display are profiled in the database of this report.

This Micro and mini LED report includes a PowerPoint file (>420 pages) and an Excel database, which profiled over 250 companies and research institutes working on micro LED and mini LED display and backlight technologies.
BOM (Bill of Material) of micro and mini LED digital signage, direct–view displays, and micro displays are provided in this report as well. The BOM of Apple’s upcoming iPad Pro with mini LED backlight is also analyzed.

Yesterday,
Plessey just announced it signed a commercial agreement with Facebook to help
Facebook prototype and develop new technologies for potential use in the AR/VR
space. Plessey’s micro LED technology is one of the 18 methods to manufacture
micro LEDs.

Since
Apple acquired LuxVue Technology and all its patents, more and more companies
and research institutes have begun research into micro LED displays. More than
250 companies and research institutes working on micro LED and mini LED display
are profiled in the database of this report.
Once in a decade, there is a dark cloud which disrupts
the economy, but which also creates an opportunity for certain industries. For
example, in the 2008/2009 global economic downturn, many industries were down,
but not the touch screen industry, which grew handsomely. Currently, the novel coronavirus
COVID-19 is slowing down many industries, but micro and mini LED will be a bright
spot. Your company’s strategic planning in the next six months could decide
your success or lack of it for the next several years. This Micro and Mini LED
2020 report can be a helping hand right now.
In the recently published “Micro LED Display Patent Analysis and Strategies 2020 Report,” Touch Display Research Inc., a market research and consulting firm, searched and analyzed over 1000 granted patents and published patent applications about micro LED displays. Additionally, we directly conducted surveys with many micro LED display companies to confirm or clarify the patent research results.
Thanks for reading, I pray to God to help our doctors and scientists to find the
cure and control the virus.

I just returned from CES 2020 at Las Vegas. It’s my honor to meet some of you in person. CES is the conference where many consumer electronic brands show case their most advanced technologies and the conference that set the trends for the near future. At last year’s CES, micro and mini LED were hot topics (see my blog last year: CES 2019: Micro LED and mini LED made big splash).
This year, at CES 2020, micro and mini LED displays reached
an even higher level.
Several existing micro LED display exhibitors continue to
showcase larger and more beautiful micro LED digital signage. Samsung brought a 292” 8K micro LED “The wall”
at the CES 2020 exhibition.
One pleasant surprise this year is Konka. At CES 2020, Konka
is all-in on micro LED digital signage—they showcased not one but two micro LED
signage: one 8K and one 4K. Detail is in the Top 20 technology trends in 2020–CES
2020 special report.

I’m at CES 2019 in Las Vegas. The weather is nice this year (not like last year’s rain at CES), cloudy and cool.
As an industry analyst, the Monday’s press conference is a MUST for me to attend every year. This Monday I attended the press conference of TCL, Toyota, Samsung, Intel, and Taiwan Excellence. I also attended the Showstopper Launchit event.

Micro LED and mini LED displays are the emerging display technologies currently. They have the potential to disrupt the whole display industry due to their benefits of high brightness, wide color gamut, low power consumption, fast response time, etc.
Touch Display Research defines micro LEDs are 99 micron meter (µm) or smaller size for each edge (or diameter if it is round shape). While mini-LED is from 100 micron to 300 micron meter (µm) for each edge (or diameter if it is round shape).
In the recently published “Micro & mini LED Technologies, Supply Chain and Market Forecast 2018-2028 Report,” Touch Display Research Inc., a market research and consulting firm, analyzed all the methods to fabricate micro and mini LED displays along with their supply chains.
